Sisterhood
The Sisterhood of Temple Adath Yeshurun is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Conservative Judaism. We provide a venue for women to find opportunities for friendship, education, and growth. We offer support and service to one another, the synagogue and the Jewish Community.
The Sisterhood of Temple Adath Yeshurun encompasses 250 women, with varying areas of interest and capabilities. We have monthly meetings with featured speakers, musical performances, creative activities, and much more. Our meetings take place on Wednesday mornings, Wednesday evenings, or Sunday mornings, depending on the calendar of events. We alternate the meeting times to accommodate everyone's different schedule needs.
All that we do benefits the Temple. From running the Judaica shop, to the Library, to the Fine Arts & Crafts Show, to the two annual Rummage Sales. Our efforts are limitless and there is always plenty for new members to enjoy and participate in. After services every Shabbat we provide a Kiddush for the Congregation, and also offer Extended Kiddushes for special occasions.
We support the Torah Fund Campaign of Women's League for Conservative Judaism on behalf of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. In this way our members participate in the development, strengthening and maintenance of Jewish Theological Seminary.
For more information contact the Temple office at 445-0002, ext. 113.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
January 10, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
Sisterhood of TAY will be hosting a Training Seminar presented by Toby Maser of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism’s Training Services Department. The session is being developed to address specifically those questions we keep hearing...Why Sisterhood? What does it do for me, for my family, our congregation, our community? Isn’t Sisterhood for my mother? How can we get our message out?
In that short session, officers, team members and future leadership will benefit from the skills of our professionally trained Women’s League Trainer. Participants will gain a better understanding of who we are, who we can be, how we get there from here and how we then share the message of our sisterhood.
