Cemetery
The
Temple Adath cemetery is located on a large, impressive
hillside at Jamesville and Thurber Streets in Syracuse,
overlooking most if not all of the greater Syracuse area.
It is a carefully and delicately maintained parcel of
land consistent with the Jewish mandate of Kibud Hamet, “respect
for those who have passed away”. The Temple Adath
Yeshurun cemetery is available to all members of the
Jewish community. It is carefully maintained by our professional
Executive Director who is very responsive to the needs
of all of our families. We encourage pre-arrangements
in order to minimize the unnecessary anxiety when decisions
can be made carefully and thoughtfully. Our Executive
Director welcomes your inquiries and is always available
to accompany you in visiting this very impressive, inspiring,
sacred place.
Temple Adath provides for all those at its cemetery an
uplifting Kever Avot service the Sunday morning between
Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It is good Jewish tradition
that we are encouraged to visit the graves of those who
have gone before us, not simply as a source of memory,
but just as important, to reaffirm relationships and
bonds of love of life and affection. The service is conducted
both by our rabbi and our cantor with thousands of thousands
in attendance.
For further information about the Temple Adath cemetery,
please contact our Executive Director, Arnold Freeman,
445-0002 Ext. 125.
